ACFM Operator (Milton Keynes Office)

Position Overview

Based in Milton Keynes, this position requires taking a leading role in supporting the electronics and mechanical design activities in the TSC service team. The aim of the role is to design, develop, and maintain equipment to deploy the innovative TSC electromagnetic inspection technologies. This includes scanners, crawlers, drives, sensors, and actuators. The role also involves taking systems offshore and performing inspections for major oil, gas, and energy producers. While offshore, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and modification of electronics systems. You will also provide training for others in the proper use of our systems.

This position reports to the SE&O director and interfaces with service engineers, design engineers, software engineers, and project managers. While on site, the role interfaces with divers, ROV pilots, inspection engineers, and customer representatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain TSC electronics systems to high standard for service inspection work
  • Train other operators in maintaining and the correctly using TSC electronics systems
  • Produce technical documents and operating manuals for service inspection systems
  • Analyze customer drawings and work scopes to determine deployment requirements
  • Produce detailed electronic and mechanical designs
  • Produce initial prototypes
  • Support testing new design prototypes
  • Perform inspections on onshore and offshore installations and vessels
  • Produce high-quality written project reports
  • Contribute to appropriate design review meetings
  • Document the design process and findings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards
  • Research and investigate new deployment components and technologies
  • Contribute to the innovation culture within the group
  • Keep personal education and training certification up-to-date and in line with current requirements
  • Other duties may be required as advised by line manager

Knowledge and Required Skills

  • 2:1 or better degree in electronics, or similar engineering discipline
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Keen to succeed in design, development, and inspection projects
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Capable and willing to periodically work in an offshore environment. Approx. 80 days offshore work is required. Offshore oil & gas experience would be valuable, but all appropriate offshore training will be provided when required
  • Experience with motor controllers, drives, and actuators an asset
  • Knowledge of common components and design processes
  • Ability to use Microsoft® Office® products, including Excel® and Word®
